It has come to our attention that scammers are yet again targeting individuals by calling and impersonating members of the Bedford Police Department. This scam can be even more convincing because the perpetrators are using a deceptive tactic called spoofing which manipulates caller IDs to make it look as though the Bedford Police Department phone number is calling.
Our officers will never call you and ask for money or give ultimatums. Be wary of any calls instructing you to pay with gift cards or wire transfers. Do not share personal or financial information with unknown callers and always verify the legitimacy of any claims by contacting your local law enforcement agency directly.
