DUI Arrest

1125 Longwood Ave

January 3rd, 2025 – 2:04 PM

Officers responded to 1125 Longwood Avenue in reference to a hit-and-run incident. The victim

reported that a truck had struck their vehicle before fleeing the scene. Officers later located the driver,

Elwood Williams, 63, of Bedford, and determined he was intoxicated. Williams was transported to the

Blue Ridge Regional Jail, where warrants were obtained for felony hit and run, misdemeanor DUI, and

driving without a license. He was held until sober. (Incident #PD25-00006)


Destruction of Property

1300+ Garretts Ln

January 5th, 2025 – 1:32 PM

Officers responded to a property damage report on Garretts Lane. The property owner stated that a

vehicle had crashed into their fence, and that the damage had not been present the previous day. The

Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident #PD25-00012)


Larceny (Shoplifting)

1128 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

January 9th, 2025 – 6:24 PM

Officers responded to the ABC store for a report of a larceny. The manager stated that two individuals

had stolen two bottles of liquor. The Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident #PD25-00029)


Warrant Service

500+ Blue Ridge Ave

January 10th, 2025 – 11:03 AM

While patrolling the West Gate shopping center, officers recognized a subject from previous encounters.

Upon checking their status with dispatch, officers discovered an active capias for a probation violation.

Brian Vandyke, 51, of Bedford, was arrested and transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail, where he

was held without bond. (Incident #PD25-00030)


Fraud

856 Burks Hill Rd

January 12th, 2025 – 3:00 AM

Officers were dispatched to the Shell station on Burks Hill Road regarding a scam call. The store manager

reported that one of their employees had received a call from someone claiming to be from Shell. The

caller instructed the employee to withdraw money from the safe to pay for a delivery. (Incident #PD25-

00033)


DUI Arrest

E Lynchburg Salem Tpke / Shiloh Church Rd

January 13th, 2025 – 12:04 AM

Officers responded to the 2000 block of East Lynchburg Salem Turnpike to assist a Virginia State Trooper

with a possible DUI. After a brief investigation, Priscilla Jonas, 39, of Cave Spring, was arrested and

transported to the magistrate, where a warrant for driving under the influence was issued. Jonas was

given an unsecured bond and was set to be released when sober. (Incident #PD25-00035)


Public Intoxication

800+ Burks Hill Rd

January 13th, 2025 – 9:20 PM

Officers responded to the 800 block of Burks Hill Road regarding a suspicious individual. Gregory Bryant,

38, of Bedford, was arrested for public intoxication and held until sober for a bond hearing. (Incident

#PD25-00036)


DUI Arrest

Freedom Ln / American Way Ct

January 19th, 2025 – 3:35 PM

Officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Freedom Lane and Independence Boulevard, where a

vehicle had driven down an embankment. Joyce Moss, 62, of Bedford, was arrested and later

transported to the magistrate, where a warrant for driving under the influence was obtained. (Incident

#PD25-00056)


Warrant Service

1126 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

January 22nd, 2025 – 4:55 PM

While patrolling the Walmart area, officers observed a male subject acting suspiciously. William Crago,

59, of Roanoke, was arrested after officers discovered an outstanding capias for him from Amherst.

Additionally, officers obtained a warrant for providing false identification to law enforcement. (Incident

#PD25-00063)


Public Intoxication

1613 Oakwood St

January 23rd, 2025 – 9:00 PM

Officers responded to Bedford Memorial Hospital regarding an individual refusing to leave. Catherine

Boyd, 37, of Leesburg, was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Blue Ridge Regional

Jail. (Incident #PD25-00067)


Hit and Run

114 E Main St

January 24th, 2025 – 1:28 PM

Officers responded to a hit-and-run report at 114 East Main Street. The victim stated that they had left

their vehicle parked in front of the store and, upon returning, discovered it had been sideswiped. The

Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident #PD25-00069)


Warrant Service

460 East / Burks Hill Rd

January 27th, 2025 – 3:40 PM

Officers observed a vehicle with no tags on the 900 block of Blue Ridge Avenue. Upon initiating a traffic

stop, officers identified the driver, Adam Garwood, 42, of Roanoke, who was wanted out of Roanoke

City. Garwood was arrested and transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail, where he was released on

an unsecured bond. (Incident #PD25-00078)


Larceny (Shoplifting)

1126 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

January 27th, 2025 – 8:00 PM

Officers responded to Walmart for a report of shoplifting. An asset protection employee reported

witnessing two individuals placing items into bags at the self-checkout without scanning them. The

suspects fled the store after being confronted. The Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident #PD25-

00079)


Assault / Warrant Service

200+ S Bridge St

January 28th, 2025 – 2:00 PM

Officers responded to South Bridge Street for an assault report. Fuquan Goode, 35, of Vinton, was

arrested and transported to the magistrate, where charges were obtained for assault and battery on law

enforcement, assault and battery on a family member, obstruction, and possession of a Schedule 1 or 2

substance. Goode was also served an outstanding capias from Botetourt and was held without bond.

Fraud

100+ Woodcreek Rd

January 29th, 2025 – 10:21 AM

Officers spoke to a subject by phone who reported receiving a bill from PayPal that had been sent to

collections. The individual stated they had never used PayPal nor had an account with them. The subject

disputed the claim and was advised to report the incident to the police. (Incident #PD25-00084)


Larceny

1110 E Main St

January 29th, 2025 – 12:15 PM

Officers took a report from a subject who stated their wallet was stolen while at Go-Mart in Bedford.

The individual had placed their bag down at the register and forgotten to pick it up. A male subject

noticed the bag, took it, and left the store. The Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident #PD25-00086)


Burglary / Breaking and Entering

942 Blue Ridge Ave

January 30th, 2025 – 2:33 PM

Officers were dispatched to West Side Food Mart regarding a burglary that occurred the previous night.

The Detective Bureau is investigating. (Incident #PD25-00090)
