Larceny

800+ Longwood Ave

December 1st, 2024 – 10:00 AM

Officers met with a subject at the police department who wished to report a larceny that occurred at

their residence. The subject stated that they had hosted an open house at their home earlier in the day.

Upon returning later, they discovered several items were missing. The Patrol Division is currently

investigating. (Incident #PD24-04808)


Warrant Service/Narcotics

1128 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

December 2nd, 2024 – 2:30 PM

While patrolling the area of 1128 East Lynchburg Salem Turnpike, officers observed a male subject

known to them from previous encounters. Upon noticing the officers, the subject began behaving

suspiciously. Officers ran the subject’s license plate through dispatch and were informed that the

registered owner had an active warrant. The subject’s photo matched the description. Officers made

contact with the subject, later identified as Edward Johnson, 67, of Bedford. During a search, officers

found suspected narcotics on Johnson. He was transported to the magistrate’s office, where he was

served the active warrant and charged with possession of a Schedule 1 or 2 substance. Johnson was

given a secured bond. (Incident #PD24-04809)


Possible Narcotics

862 Burks Hill Rd

December 3rd, 2024 – 12:00 AM

Officers observed a vehicle at the Shell station that had been suspiciously parked at the pump for an

extended period of time. Officers initiated a consensual encounter with the occupants of the vehicle

and, during the interaction, discovered suspected narcotics. The Patrol Division is currently investigating.

Vehicle Theft

800+ Randolph St

December 3rd, 2024 – 12:00 PM

Officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on Randolph Street. The caller stated that they started

their vehicle to let it warm up before leaving for work and then went inside. When they returned

outside, the vehicle was missing. Officers issued a "be on the lookout" for the vehicle. Shortly after, the

caller contacted police again, reporting that the vehicle had been returned and the individual

responsible for taking it was still present. Officers made contact with the suspect, identified as Elton

Smith, 35, of Bedford. Smith was transported to the magistrate’s office, where he was charged with

unauthorized use of a vehicle and public intoxication. (Incident #PD24-04813)


Destruction of Property

1128 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

December 5th, 2024 – 5:39 PM

Officers were dispatched to Papa John’s in response to a report of property damage. The store manager

informed officers that a customer, upset over an issue, threw a pizza box at a TV, causing damage to the

television. The Patrol Division is currently investigating. (Incident #PD24-04822)


DUI Arrest

Burks Hill Rd/Moneta Rd

December 7th, 2024 – 1:13 AM

Officers were near the intersection of Wells Road and Moneta Road when they observed a vehicle

traveling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver, Mark Turner, 62, of

Bedford, was arrested. He was transported to the jail, where officers obtained a warrant for driving

under the influence. (Incident #PD24-04830)


Public Intoxication

1200+ Roundtree Dr

December 8th, 2024 – 1:56 PM

Officers responded to a disturbance on Roundtree Drive. After a brief investigation, Chad Breeden, 46,

of Bedford, was arrested and transported to the magistrate’s office. He was charged with public

intoxication and disorderly conduct. (Incident #PD24-04833)


Destruction of Property

900+ Windy Ridge Dr

December 8th, 2024 – 12:00 PM

Officers responded to a report of property damage in the 900 block of Windy Ridge Drive. Upon arrival,

they made contact with the homeowner, who pointed out that the carport window appeared to have

two bullet holes. It was determined that the damage was likely caused by a BB gun. (Incident #PD24-

04834)


Fraud

1602 Longwood Ave

December 9th, 2024 – 6:18 AM

Officers responded to the Shell Station on Longwood Avenue regarding a scam reported by an

employee. The employee stated they received a call from a woman claiming to be from Shell's corporate

office. The caller instructed the employee to deposit personal funds into a bitcoin machine to cover a

bill, assuring them that the store would reimburse the money. Shortly after the call, the employee

realized they had been scammed. (Incident #PD24-04836)


Fraud

862 Burks Hill Rd

December 9th, 2024 – 5:00 AM

Officers were called to the Shell Station on Burks Hill Road for a similar fraud report. An employee

reported receiving a call from a woman who claimed that the store’s manager had authorized the

employee to withdraw money from the register and deposit it into a bitcoin machine to pay for the early

delivery of items. (Incident #PD24-04837)


DUI Arrest

460/Burks Hill Road

December 9th, 2024 – 1:10 PM

While patrolling the 900 block of Blue Ridge Avenue, officers observed a vehicle straddling the center

line. A traffic stop was conducted, and as a result, Bautista Audiel, 41, of Mexico, was arrested. He was

transported to the magistrate’s office, where charges of driving without a license, driving under the

influence, and having an open container were filed against him. (Incident #PD24-04842)


Fraud

1900+ Forest Rd

December 5th, 2024 – 9:13 AM

Officers spoke with a caller who reported being defrauded of nearly $1,500 through Facebook. The

caller explained that one of their Facebook friends had posted an ad selling a golf cart, which indicated a

deposit of half the cost was required to hold the cart until pickup. The caller sent the money via Zelle,

but after the transaction, the Facebook post was deleted. When the caller reached out to their Facebook

friend, they were told the account had been hacked. (Incident #PD24-04845)


Assault

875 Blue Ridge Ave

December 12th, 2024 – 12:55 AM

Officers responded to Royal Farms regarding a report of an assault on an employee. The suspect had left

the scene before officers arrived. The Patrol Division is investigating. (Incident #PD24-04856)


Public Intoxication

800+ Sword Beach Ln

December 13th, 2024 – 4:10 PM

While patrolling the 900 block of Blue Ridge Avenue, officers were stopped by a citizen who reported a

subject acting suspiciously at a nearby business. Officers observed the individual walking across Route

460 and made contact with them. Christopher Johnson, 53, of Bedford, was arrested for public

intoxication. (Incident #PD24-04862)


Trespassing

500+ Jeter St

December 16th, 2024 – 5:11 PM

Officers responded to the 500 block of Jeter Street regarding a report of trespassing. The resident who

called did not want an individual on their property. Officers advised the individual that they needed to

leave. The subject was told to leave the property multiple times but refused. Jonathan Brunk, 45, of

Bedford, was transported to jail, where a warrant for trespassing was obtained against him. He was

granted a secured bond. (Incident #PD24-04880)


DUI Arrest

1100+ E Main St

December 18th, 2024 – 10:42 PM

Officers were patrolling the area of East Main Street when they observed a subject, known to them from

previous encounters, getting into the driver’s seat of a vehicle at Go Mart. The officers were aware that

this subject’s license had been revoked due to a DUI-related offense. After running the tag, they

confirmed that the subject’s license status remained revoked. The officers later initiated a traffic stop on

the vehicle. After a brief investigation, Kody Outhong, 31, of Bedford, was arrested for driving under the

influence. He was taken before the magistrate, where officers obtained warrants for elevated DUI (3rd

offense within 5 years) and driving while revoked. (Incident #PD24-04891)


Larceny (Shoplifting)

1126 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

December 19th, 2024 – 3:08 PM

Officers responded to Walmart for a report of a suspect shoplifting. The suspect was failing to scan all of

their items at the self-checkout aisle. Jacqueline Brookman, 47, of Monroe, was issued a summons for

petit larceny. (Incident #PD24-04893)


Larceny (Shoplifting)/Warrant Service

1126 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

December 19th, 2024 – 3:08 PM

Officers responded to Lowe’s for a report of a possible shoplifter in the store. Officers observed the

suspect exit the store, passing all points of sale without going to a register. Officers made contact with

the suspect, who was identified as Mathew Haybeck, 36, of Roanoke. Haybeck was transported to the

jail, where officers obtained warrants for grand larceny and two counts of possession of a Schedule I or

II substance. Haybeck also had a larceny warrant out of Roanoke, which was served. He was set to be

held without bond. (Incident #PD24-04894)


Destruction of Property

600+ Pinecrest Ave

December 24th, 2024 – 4:30 AM

Officers responded to Pinecrest Avenue for a report of property damage. Officers arrived on scene and

observed a bedroom window that appeared to have been shattered by a rock. The Patrol Division is

investigating. (Incident #PD24-04905)


Larceny (Shoplifting)

1126 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

December 24th, 2024 – 3:46 PM

Officers responded to Walmart for a report of a shoplifter. After a brief investigation, Bonita Bryant, 46

of Bedford was issued a summons for petit larceny. (Incident #PD24-04907)


Fraud

3000+ Forest Rd

December 27th, 2024 – 10:47 AM

Officers responded to Forest Road in reference to a fraud. The victim advised that a fraudulent check

had been cashed from their checking account. The Detective Bureau is investigating. (Incident #PD24-

04913)


Warrant Service

407 N Bridge St

December 28th, 2024 – 12:12 PM

Officers were on routine patrol when they observed a vehicle with an expired registration from January

2023. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified Jack Huff, 43, of Roanoke, as the

driver. Officers were advised by dispatch that Huff was wanted out of Franklin County for two felony

probation violations. He was transported to the jail, where he was served the warrant. He was held

without bond. (Incident #PD24-04915)


Larceny (Shoplifting)

1126 E Lynchburg Salem Tpke

December 29th, 2024 – 10:40 PM

Officers responded to Walmart for the report of a larceny. An employee advised they observed a female

subject put multiple items in her purse and later fail to scan all items in the self-checkout. The female

suspect was later identified as Nakiah Spinner, 21, of Bedford. Spinner was issued a summons for petit

larceny. (Incident #PD24-04922)
